Group chats move fast. Whether it's a project team, a study group, or a close circle of friends, hundreds of messages can pile up while you're away. Scrolling through everything to find what matters takes time you don't have.
ChatCript's AI-powered summaries solve this by automatically reading private group conversations and distilling them into clear, concise highlights. Here's how it works and why it matters.
Note: AI summaries are available exclusively for private group chats. They are not available for 1:1 conversations or public groups.
What Are AI Chat Summaries?
Private group chats in ChatCript can generate AI summaries — but only when the feature is enabled by the group admin. The AI analyses messages over a period and produces a brief summary that captures the key points, decisions, and action items discussed by group members.
Enabling AI Summaries (Group Admin)
Before members can use AI summaries, the group admin must enable the feature:
- When creating a new private group or editing an existing one, go to the group settings.
- Look for the AI Summary option and toggle it on.
- Save the group settings. Members can now access AI summaries for that group.
How to Use AI Summaries
Once the group admin has enabled AI summaries for a private group, every night ChatCript automatically generates a summary of the day's conversation and delivers it directly into the group chat message window.
Viewing Previous Summaries
To browse the full history of AI summaries:
- Open the private group chat.
- Tap the attachment icon in the chat message window.
- From the 10 icons that appear, select the AI icon.
- Browse the list of all previous AI summaries for that group.
Multi-Language Support
ChatCript AI understands and summarises conversations in 12 languages, including mixed-language chats.
Why This Saves You Time
- Catch up in seconds — Instead of reading 200+ messages, read a 5-line summary.
- Never miss decisions — Key decisions and action items are highlighted automatically.
- Stay informed across groups — Even if you're in dozens of private groups, summaries keep you in the loop.
- Share context quickly — Forward a summary to someone who needs the highlights without forwarding every message.
Create a Virtual Profile — Step by Step
In real life, you present yourself differently at work, with family, and among friends. ChatCript's Virtual Profiles bring that same flexibility to your digital life. One account, multiple identities — each with its own name, photo, bio, friends, and groups.
What Is a Virtual Profile?
A Virtual Profile is a separate identity linked to your main account. It has its own display name, profile picture, bio, friend list, and group memberships. People who connect with your virtual profile see only that profile — not your main account.
Why Use Virtual Profiles?
- Separate work and personal life — Keep professional contacts on one profile and personal friends on another.
- Community involvement — Join hobby or interest groups under a profile dedicated to that community.
- Privacy control — Choose exactly what each audience sees about you.
- Multiple businesses — If you run different ventures, give each one its own presence.
- One login, everything managed — Switch between profiles instantly without logging out.
How to Create a Virtual Profile
Switching Between Profiles
Tap your profile photo at the top right and select the profile you want to switch to. The switch is instant — your feed, chats, and groups update to reflect the selected profile.
Things to Know
- Each virtual profile has its own separate friend list and group memberships.
- Messages sent from a virtual profile appear under that profile's name.
- You can share a virtual profile with another main profile user for co-management.
- Deleting a virtual profile does not affect your main account.
Write the Perfect Bio with AI
Your bio is the first thing people see on your profile. A well-written bio makes a strong impression, but not everyone finds it easy to write about themselves. That's where ChatCript AI comes in.
How It Works
Just type a few words about yourself — don't worry about spelling, grammar, or even which language you're typing in. ChatCript AI automatically detects your language, fixes errors, and transforms your rough notes into a polished, professional bio.
Step-by-Step Guide
What the AI Does
- Fixes spelling and grammar automatically.
- Detects your language — works with English, Sinhala, Tamil, and more.
- Adds appropriate emojis to make your bio stand out.
- Keeps your meaning — it improves the writing, not the content.
- Handles transliteration — if you type Sinhala words in English letters (e.g., "mama colombo inna"), the AI outputs proper Sinhala script.
Works for Posts Too
The same "Improve with AI" button appears when creating posts, group descriptions, and channel descriptions. Type your rough idea, tap the button, and get polished text instantly.
Keep Conversations Private with Locked Messages
Sometimes messages contain sensitive information that shouldn't be visible to everyone who picks up your phone. ChatCript's Locked Messages feature lets you password-protect any message in any chat.
What Can You Lock?
Everything. Text messages, photos, voice notes, videos, and documents can all be locked. Once locked, the content is hidden behind a password prompt.
Setting Up Your Lock Password
Sending a New Locked Message
- Open any chat (1:1 or group).
- Tap the attachment icon (+) to open the menu.
- Tap the Lock toggle — the icon turns red when active.
- A small red lock appears on the send button to confirm lock mode is on.
- Type your message or attach media and send as usual.
Locking an Existing Message
- Long-press any message in the chat.
- "Lock for me" — locks it only on your device.
- "Lock for everyone" (sender only) — locks it for all participants.
Viewing Locked Messages
Locked messages appear as a lock icon with "Locked message — Tap to unlock". Tap the bubble, enter your password, and the content is revealed temporarily. Messages re-lock when you leave the chat.
Security Features
- 3 wrong password attempts triggers a 30-minute lockout.
- Chat list preview shows "🔒 Locked message" instead of actual content.
- Forgot your password? Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Lock Settings → Chat Lock Password → “Forgot password?”. If biometric is enabled, verify with fingerprint/Face ID to reset instantly. Otherwise, reset via email OTP.
Build Your Community with Groups & Channels
ChatCript's group system goes beyond simple group chats. It's a fully structured ecosystem: Groups → Channels → Posts & Media. Think of it like having your own private community platform.
Understanding the Structure
- Group — The top-level container. It has a name, description, photo, members, and a group chat.
- Channels — Topic-based spaces inside a group. Each channel can have its own posts, media, and discussions.
- Posts — Content within channels: text, photos, videos, polls, and action items with reminders.
Creating a Group
Creating Channels Inside a Group
What You Can Do in Groups
- Real-time group chat with all members.
- Create up to 20 channels per group for different topics.
- Post text, photos, videos, and polls in channels.
- Add action items with reminders to group posts.
- Share documents and HD photos.
- Use AI summaries to catch up on missed conversations.
- Broadcast private 1:1 messages to selected group members.
- Share live location with group members.
Broadcast Private Messages from a Group Chat
Sometimes you need to share something with group members privately — without posting it in the group chat where everyone can see it. ChatCript's broadcast feature lets you send the same message as individual 1:1 chats to selected group members.
How to Send a Broadcast Message
What Recipients See
Each recipient receives the message in their personal 1:1 chat with you, prefixed with a bold label: "📢 1:1 private broadcast for group "Group Name"".
When to Use Broadcast
- Sending meeting reminders privately to selected members.
- Sharing sensitive information that shouldn't be in the group chat.
- Sending personalised messages based on group context.
- Following up individually after a group discussion.
Why You See Ads in ChatCript
ChatCript is completely free to download and use — no subscriptions, no premium tiers, no hidden charges. To keep it that way while continuing to develop new features, improve security, and maintain our servers, we rely on advertising revenue.
What Types of Ads Will I See?
ChatCript displays two types of advertisements:
- Google Ads — Served through Google AdMob, these appear as native ad cards in your Home feed, clearly labelled with an "Ad" badge.
- Sponsored content — Occasional sponsored posts from partners, clearly marked as "Sponsored".
Where Do Ads Appear?
Ads appear only in the Home feed and channel post feeds. You will not see ads in private chats, group conversations, settings, or the AI chatbot.
Is My Privacy Protected?
- No personal data is shared with advertisers — your messages, contacts, and profile stay private.
- Non-personalised ads are served by default — ads are not targeted based on your activity.
- No cross-app tracking — ChatCript does not use device tracking identifiers (IDFA).
- GDPR compliant — our ad implementation follows international privacy regulations.
Why Ads Matter
Ads allow us to keep ChatCript free for everyone, fund ongoing development of features like AI summaries and voice messages, maintain secure infrastructure, and provide customer support.
Privacy & Security in ChatCript
Can ChatCript View My Messages?
No. ChatCript does not read, scan, analyse, or monitor the content of your private conversations. No human at ChatCript reads your messages. AI features like group summaries only process messages when you explicitly enable them. You can also lock individual messages with a password for extra protection.
Is ChatCript GDPR Compliant?
Yes. ChatCript is fully compliant with GDPR and international privacy laws:
- Right to Access — View all data ChatCript holds about you.
- Right to Data Portability — Use "Download My Data" in Settings to export your data.
- Right to Erasure — Delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings.
- Data Minimisation — We only collect data necessary to provide the service.
- No Data Selling — ChatCript never sells your personal data to third parties.
- Non-Personalised Ads — Ads are not targeted based on your personal data.
- No Cross-App Tracking — We do not track your activity across other apps.
What Personal Information Is Shared with Friends?
ChatCript gives you granular control over what friends can see. Each profile field has its own privacy level: Only Me, Friends, Friends of Friends, or Public.
Default settings: Profile picture and bio are Public. Email is Friends only. Birthday, friends list, posts, and points are Friends of Friends. You can change any of these in Settings > Privacy.
Your message content, locked messages, and account data are never shared with anyone.
Groups, Friends & Channels — Limits

You can have up to 500 friends on ChatCript. To add more, remove an existing friend first. For larger audiences, consider creating a public group.

How Many Members Can a Private Group Have?
Private groups have no fixed member limit. Invite as many members as you need. Members are added via invitations or join requests that admins can approve.

- Turn it on — your device will prompt you to verify your identity.
Once enabled, locked screens show a fingerprint icon below the lock. Tap it to unlock instantly with your fingerprint or face. You can always tap the lock icon to use your password instead.
Note: Biometric unlock uses your device’s built-in security (Touch ID, Face ID, or Android biometrics). It works automatically with whatever your device supports — no separate setup needed.
Push Notification Privacy
When a screen is locked, push notifications for that screen are automatically suppressed:
- Lock Chats — No push notifications for new chat messages.
- Lock Groups — No push notifications for group chat messages.
- Lock Friends — No push notifications for new friend requests.
When you unlock a screen (disable the lock), push notifications resume immediately without affecting any other notification settings you may have configured.

Setting Up
- Go to Profile → Settings → Privacy & Security → Lock Settings.
- Set a Chat Lock Password if you haven’t already.
- Toggle on the screens you want to lock: Home, Chats, Groups, or Friends.
How It Works
- Locked screens display a lock icon in the centre — all content is completely hidden.
- Tap the lock icon and enter your password to unlock, or use fingerprint / Face ID if enabled.
- When the app goes to the background, all enabled screens lock immediately.
- When you restart the app, all enabled screens start locked.
- Push notifications are suppressed for locked screens — no chat, group, or friend request notifications will appear while the screen is locked.
Biometric Unlock
Enable "Unlock with fingerprint / Face ID" in Lock Settings to unlock screens with your device’s biometrics. Works with Touch ID, Face ID, and Android fingerprint/face sensors. Password remains available as a fallback.
Per-Profile Lock Settings
Lock settings are completely independent per profile. Your Main Profile and each Virtual Profile have their own:
- Separate lock password
- Separate screen lock toggles (Home, Chats, Groups, Friends)
- Separate biometric unlock preference
Locking a screen on your Main Profile does not lock that screen on a Virtual Profile, and vice versa. Each profile manages its own locks independently.
Forgot Your Lock Password?
Go to Lock Settings → Chat Lock Password → “Forgot password?”. If biometric unlock is enabled, you can verify with fingerprint or Face ID and reset your password instantly. If biometric is not available, an OTP is sent to your registered email. The OTP email clearly states which profile (Main or Virtual) the code is for.

Sticky Notes
Collaborative notes inside any chat — combine text, checklists, images, and locations in one place.
What Are Sticky Notes?
Sticky Notes are shared notes you can create inside any 1:1 or group chat. Each note supports multiple content blocks — text paragraphs, tick-box checklists, photos, and map locations — so you can organise information right where the conversation happens.
Creating a Sticky Note
- Open a 1:1 or group chat.
- Tap the attachment icon (+) to open the menu.
- Tap the Sticky Note icon.
- You will see a list of existing notes (if any). Tap "Create New Note".
- Add a title and start adding content blocks.
Content Blocks
- Text — Free-form text paragraphs for descriptions, ideas, or details.
- Ticks (Checklist) — Add items with checkboxes to track tasks or shopping lists.
- Image — Attach photos from your gallery or camera.
- Location — Pin a map location with an optional label.
Adding Chat Messages to a Note
- Long-press any message in a 1:1 or group chat.
- Select "Add to Sticky Note" from the menu.
- Choose an existing note to append to, or tap "Create New Note".
- The message content (text, image, or location) is added as a new block in the note.
Ending a Sticky Note
The note creator can end a note at any time:
- Open the note and tap the 3-dot menu in the top right.
- Select "End Note".
- Choose one of two options:
- Send & End — Sends all note content to the chat as a formatted message, then deletes the note.
- End Only — Deletes the note without sending anything to chat.
Hashtags & Search
Add #hashtags to posts and search across ChatCript to discover content by topic.
Adding Hashtags to a Post
There are two ways to add hashtags when creating a post:
- Type in your content — Include hashtags directly in your post text (e.g., "Great day at the beach #travel #sunset"). They are auto-detected when you publish.
- Use the Hashtags field — Below the Attach section in the post editor, use the dedicated Hashtags input. Type a tag and press Enter to add it as a chip. You can add multiple tags and remove any by tapping the × icon.
Both methods work together — hashtags from your content text and the Hashtags field are merged automatically with no duplicates.
How Hashtags Appear
Hashtags display as blue text below your post content. They are visible to everyone who can see the post.
Searching Posts by Hashtag
- Tap the Search icon in the bottom navigation bar (mobile) or sidebar (web).
- Type a hashtag in the search box (e.g., "travel" or "#travel").
- Results appear automatically after a brief pause, or press Enter to search immediately.
- If there are more than 20 results, tap "Load More" at the bottom to see additional posts.
How Search Results Are Prioritised
Results are grouped by your relationship to the post author, in this order:
- Your Posts — Posts you created that match the hashtag.
- Friends' Posts — Posts from your friends (if their visibility allows it).
- Friends of Friends' Posts — Posts from friends of friends (if visibility is set to "Friends of Friends" or "Public").
- Your Group Posts — Posts from groups you belong to.
- Public Posts — Posts from public groups or with public visibility.
Within each group, posts are sorted by most recent first.
@Mentions in Posts
Mention friends in your posts to notify them and let them share your content.
How to Mention Friends
- Open the Create Post screen.
- Type @ in the content field — a list of your friends will appear.
- Type a few letters to filter the list, then tap a friend to mention them.
- The mentioned friend appears as a green @Name chip below the content field.
- You can mention up to 10 friends per post. Remove a mention by tapping the × on its chip.
What Happens When You Mention Someone
- Each mentioned friend receives a chat message notification saying you mentioned them in a post.
- The notification includes a preview of the post (photo thumbnail, video thumbnail, and text).
- Tapping the notification opens the full post.
- Mentioned friends can share (republish) the post to their own feed — even if sharing is not enabled for other users.
How Mentions Appear on Posts
Mentioned users are displayed as green @Name links above the hashtags on the published post. Tapping a name opens that user’s profile.
Mentions in My Journal
Posts where you are mentioned also appear in your My Journal screen alongside your own posts, so you never miss a mention.
Editing Mentions
When editing a post, existing mentions are preserved. You can add new mentions or remove existing ones using the chips below the content field.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I change my profile picture?
Go to your profile page, click "Edit", and upload a new photo from your device or Google account.
Can I have multiple accounts?
Each Google or Apple account can only have one ChatCript account, but you can create multiple Virtual Profiles within that account.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile > Settings and tap Delete Account. Follow the on-screen confirmation to permanently delete your account and all associated data.
How do I use AI to improve my bio or posts?
Open your profile or post editor and tap "Improve with AI". The AI instantly rewrites your text into polished content. It keeps your intended language and adds emojis when suitable.
How can I get more AI usage?
Go to Profile → "Points and redeem" and spend points to add extra AI usage. The point cost per AI use is set by app settings.
How do I send a locked message?
Open the attachment menu in any chat, tap the Lock toggle to enable lock mode, then send your message normally. A red lock on the send button confirms lock mode is active.
Can I lock a message that was already sent?
Yes. Long-press any message and choose "Lock for me" or "Lock for everyone" (if you sent it). You can also permanently unlock from the same menu.
How do I share a document in chat?
Tap the attachment icon (+), then the Document icon. Select a file and it will be sent with file details and a download button.
How do I send photos in HD quality?
When sending photos from the gallery, toggle the HD option on. Photos will be uploaded at full resolution and display an HD badge.
I forgot my chat lock password. How do I reset it?
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Lock Settings → Chat Lock Password, tap “Forgot password?”. If biometric unlock is enabled, verify with your fingerprint or Face ID to reset your password instantly. If biometric is not available, follow the email OTP verification steps. The OTP email clearly states which profile (Main or Virtual) the code is for.
How do I lock an entire screen (Home, Chats, Groups, or Friends)?
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Lock Settings. Set a chat lock password first, then toggle on the screens you want to lock. Locked screens show a lock icon — tap it and enter your password to unlock, or use fingerprint / Face ID if enabled. Screens re-lock automatically when the app goes to the background or is restarted.
Can I unlock locked screens with my fingerprint or Face ID?
Yes. Go to Lock Settings and enable “Unlock with fingerprint / Face ID”. Your device will prompt you to verify your identity. Once enabled, locked screens show a fingerprint icon — tap it to unlock instantly. This works with Touch ID, Face ID, and Android biometrics. You can always use your password as a fallback.
Do I still receive notifications when a screen is locked?
No. When a screen is locked, push notifications for that screen are automatically suppressed. For example, locking the Chats screen stops chat message notifications, and locking the Friends screen stops friend request notifications. Notifications resume immediately when you unlock the screen, without affecting your other notification settings.
Do Virtual Profiles have separate lock settings?
Yes. Each profile (Main and Virtual) has its own lock password, screen lock toggles, and biometric unlock preference. Locking a screen on your Main Profile does not affect your Virtual Profiles, and vice versa.
How do I send a private broadcast message from a group chat?
Long-press the send button in any group chat. Select the members, type your message, and tap send. Each recipient gets it as a personal 1:1 chat.
How do I create a Sticky Note?
Open any 1:1 or group chat, tap the attachment icon (+), then tap the Sticky Note icon. You can add text, checklists, images, and locations as content blocks. You can also long-press any chat message and select "Add to Sticky Note" to save it directly into a note.
How do I add hashtags to a post?
You can type hashtags directly in your post content (e.g., #travel #food) and they will be auto-detected. You can also use the dedicated Hashtags field below the Attach section in the post editor to add tags manually. Both methods are merged automatically.
How do I search for posts by hashtag?
Tap the Search icon in the bottom navigation bar (mobile) or sidebar (web). Type a hashtag in the search box and results will appear grouped by relevance — your posts first, then friends, groups, and public posts.
Why can't I see some posts in search results?
Search results respect post visibility settings. You can only see posts that the author has made visible to you based on your relationship (friend, friend of friend, group member, or public). Private posts from users you are not connected to will not appear.
How do I mention a friend in a post?
Type @ in the post content field while creating or editing a post. A list of your friends will appear — tap a name to add them as a mention. Mentioned friends appear as green @Name chips and can be removed with the × button. You can mention up to 10 friends per post.
What happens when I am mentioned in a post?
You receive a chat message notification with a preview of the post. You can tap it to view the full post, or use the Share button to republish it to your own feed. Mentioned posts also appear in your My Journal screen.
How do I change the app language?
Go to Profile → Settings → Language and select from English, Sinhala, Tamil, or Hindi. The app switches instantly. You can also change the language on the login screen before signing in.
