Groups, Friends & Channels — Limits and What You Can Do
ChatCript is designed to help you build meaningful connections and communities. To keep the platform fast, reliable, and enjoyable for everyone, there are some limits in place. Here's everything you need to know.
Quick Reference
| Feature | Limit |
|---|---|
| Friends | 500 per user |
| Groups you can create | 50 per user |
| Channels per group | 20 per group |
| Private group members | No fixed limit |
| Public group followers | No fixed limit |
How Many Friends Can I Add?
You can have up to 500 friends on ChatCript. This includes friends you've added and people who have added you. When you reach 500 friends, you'll need to remove an existing friend before accepting new friend requests.
How Many Groups Can I Create?
Each user can create up to 50 groups. This limit applies only to groups you personally create — you can be a member of additional groups created by others without any restriction.
There are two types of groups in ChatCript:
- Private groups — Invite-only groups for close-knit communities, teams, or families. Members must be invited by the group creator or admins.
- Public groups — Open communities that anyone can discover and follow. Public groups go through an approval process to maintain quality.
How Many Members Can a Private Group Have?
Private groups in ChatCript have no fixed member limit. You can invite as many members as you need for your team, family, or community. Members are added through invitations, and the group creator and admins control who can join.
Private groups support:
- Member invitations via share links or direct invites
- Join requests that admins can approve or decline
- Admin roles to help manage larger groups
- AI-powered chat summaries to help members catch up
- Channels for organising discussions by topic
How Many Users Can Follow a Public Group?
Public groups have no fixed follower limit. Whether you have 10 followers or 10,000, your public group can grow as large as your community needs.
Public groups are ideal for:
- Community announcements and updates
- Interest-based groups (sports, music, tech, etc.)
- Organisation or brand communities
- Content sharing through channels and posts
How Many Channels Can I Create?
Each group can have up to 20 channels. Channels are sub-sections within a group where members can post content, share updates, and have focused discussions on specific topics.
For example, a school group might have channels for:
- General Announcements
- Homework & Assignments
- Sports Events
- Photos & Memories
